Monika Bögge

Graham Bath„Those who can develop, can also test.“ This was common practice when Monika Bögge contributed to the first IT projects of a medium-sized system house. It was not until later, that the IT specialist came to know the independent role of quality assurance in the context of a test project at Telefónica o2 Germany. This is where she lead a component testing team and in this capacity investigated appropriate test techniques for this purpose. Monika Bögge became curious, since she realised that quality assurance represents an own discipline which has a future. Although it was more by coincidence that she discovered systematic and professional software testing, she is today all the more enthusiastic to support quality assurance as an independent task.

In the meantime, she is responsible for the subject matter of „Testing“ at Telefonica o2 Germany, and she knows how strongly well-trained quality assurance staff contribute to the added value of any organisation. She and her teams have in the meantime attained a measurable, high maturity, so that they can start to consider outtasking of testing. This will of course change the tasks and roles of many stakeholders – a change which Monika Bögge will be happy to actively monitor and support.

The persistent change of software testing and the increasing requirement for well-trained and qualified specialists were, amongst others, the reasons why she came to the German Testing Board (GTB). She has known many GTB members personally for years, and she is therefore fully aware of the fact that principally two sides are represented within the GTB, which exchange views with each other: Research and science on one hand, and practice and economy on the other. Monika Bögge will collaborate that both sides will continue to pull together. In the GTB she will also ensure that the tester and test manager training schemes keep up with the fast changes in IT. For Monika Bögge, the GTB provides software testing with an own standing; and it is her particular concern that it will continue to do so.
